The new Blaser Optics Primus binoculars
Developed by hunters, for hunters: Blaser's new Optics division introduces the Primus line of binoculars, specifically conceived to satisfy the needs of hunters
The German-based Blaser Jagdwaffen company, manufacturer of some of the world's best hunting and sporting rifles and shotguns, is very well known for its precision engineering.
That's why, when the moment came to develop a line of sport optics, Blaser established a specialized company – the GSO - German Sports Optics – as well as a dedicated division, Blaser Optics, to manufacture and market the new Primus line of binoculars.
Unlike many direct competitors, which outsource their optical products to third-party providers in Asia, Blaser manufactures the Primus binoculars entirely in Germany.
With high-contrast images being imperative for long-range hunting optics, Blaser's Primus binoculars offer brilliant high light transmission coupled with neutral color reproduction.
Thanks to unique technical features developed by GSO - German Sports Optics, such as the CCC (Contrast and Color Corrective) multi-layer glass treatment, the Blaser Primus line of binoculars ensure superior image performance in any light condition as well as an exquisitely comfortable visual experience in any situation – even if the optics are not positioned in your optimal line of sight.
Good balance is an important criterion for binoculars when it comes to observing subjects for prolonged periods without fatigue; as such, the short bridge and a centre of gravity near to the eyepiece gives Blaser Primus binoculars their ideal balance that makes them so comfortable to handle.
The Blaser Primus binoculars are built around a lightweight magnesium housing that is covered with an attractive bicolor reinforcement, duplicating the look and feel of leather on many areas, and accented with fish scale texture over the focusing wheel and dioptre compensation adjusting ring. Attractive and functional, these features provide sure handling especially in adverse weather conditions.
Just as important as optical quality is the protection of the outer lenses; hence why the Blaser Primus binoculars feature the SLP coating (Smart Lens Protection), a GSO-developed, nanotechnology-based treatment ensuring water and dust protection that also allows for rain to run off and makes the lenses significantly easier to clean.
A newly developed mechanical design makes the removal of the eyecups from the Blaser Primus binoculars particularly easy, and allows for fast and efficient cleaning of the eyepiece lenses and the eye cups.
Currently, the Blaser Primus line of binoculars counts four entries: the 8x30 model, a true globetrotter, ideal for all situations thanks to its light weight (barely 475 grams, or 1 lb. 0.8 oz.); the 8x42 model, a sort of "universal genius", compact and lightweight enough to be carried everywhere and powerful enough to be used by any hunter on any trip; the 8x56 model, whose optical features make it particularly apt for hunting by night or in low-light conditions; and the 10x42 model, by far the most powerful, perfect for mountain or long-range hunting.
