First showcased at the end of September, at the 2026 edition of SIG Sauer NEXT – the yearly, limited-attendance company event where SIG Sauer showcases its coming new products to a selected number of professionals and members of the press – the SIG Sauer P211 Carry and P211 Full 9mm Luger semi-automatic pistols represent a new take on the already popular P211 GT4 and GT5 respectively, optimized for 24/7 defensive and duty carry, both open and concealed.

While continuing, the popularity of SIG Sauer's P211 series of pistols – and of the 1911 platform itself, which is still held in high regard by practical shooters, defensive shooting enthusiasts, and sports shooters at large, on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean – is today at odds with its inherently overall high weight compared to other designs. The SIG Sauer P211 Full and P211 Carry address that downside with a drastically redesigned frame, now manufactured using different and lighter materials.

While the P211 GT4 and P211 GT5 handguns are built around a steel frame with an aluminum alloy grip module, the new SIG Sauer P211 Full and P211 Carry pistols feature an aluminum frame with a re-engineered grip manufactured out of a new reinforced polymer blend.

This makes the P211 Full a full 280 grams (9.87 oz) lighter than the P211 GT5, bringing the overall weight to 1,06 kilograms (35.5 oz with an empty magazine); the result of the "weight-loss treatment" on the P211 Carry is a drop of 240 grams (8.46 oz) compared to the P211 GT4, bringing the overall weight with an empty magazine to 938 grams (33.1 oz).

Common features found on both variants include a Picatinny rail for tactical accessories machined directly to the frame, under the dust cover; a grip shape that favors a higher grip to better control recoil and muzzle climb for better accuracy in all conditions, rapid fire included; a reversible magazine release catch for left-handed and right-handed shooters; and a fully ambidextrous slide stop lever and frame-mounted manual safety.

Both the P211 Full and the P211 Carry are available in a nitride black or Coyote tan Cerakote finish; in all cases, the barrel, controls, and small parts are still finished in matte black.

The SIG Sauer P211 Full and P211 Carry feed through double-stack P320 magazines; standard capacity magazines will hold 17 or 21 rounds of 9mm Luger ammunition, but 10-rounds magazines are available for restrictive jurisdictions

A matte black steel beveled magwell extension is installed from factory to facilitate quick reloads; it is kept in place by a rear pin, and easily removed should the user need to reduce the overall profile of the gun.

The trigger remains the standard, crisp single-action found on all P211 variants, combined with a light, skeletonized hammer and flat-face trigger.

Both models come with a machined steel slide, featuring aggressive front and rear serrations, a set of SIG Sauer XRAY5 day-night sights, and a SIG-LOC micro red dot sights interface machined right behind the ejection window.

Offering five points of contact between the slide and optic, the SIG-LOC interface provides a positive lockup that eliminates shift in zero created by extensive shock from recoil and harsh impacts; it also offers a longer focal length and the industry’s lowest deck height, allowing optics to be co-witnessed with standard height iron sights.

The SIG Sauer P211 Full semi-automatic pistol sports a 12,7 cm / 5" Bull barrel and is 21,5 cm / 8.½" long overall; a 10,6 cm / 4.2" Bull barrel makes the SIG Sauer P211 Carry slightly shorter, at 19,3 cm / 7.6" overall.

The SIG Sauer P211 Full and P211 Carry semi-automatic pistol are not yet in distribution: they're still marked as "coming soon" on the SIG Sauer website, and they might start shipping by the end of 2026 or early 2027.
