Springfield Armory Model 2020 Heatseeker pistol, a long-range bolt-action handgun
Springfield Armory introduces the Model 2020 Heatseeker Pistol, a short-barreled .308 Winchester version of their popular line of bolt-action rifles, dedicated to hunting and target shooting
New for 2026, Springfield Armory expands the Model 2020 line of bolt-action rifles with the launch of a large-size pistol variant: the Springfield Armory Model 2020 Heatseeker Pistol, available at launch only in a .308 Winchester version, is a handgun variant of the Springfield Armory Model 2020 Heatseeker bolt-action long-range rifle, built around a Sharps Bros. alloy chassis, first introduced in May 2025.
Like all large-size pistols of this kind, the Springfield Armory Model 2020 Heatseeker Pistol is aimed at chiefly at the north American hunting market: hunting with pistols is allowed in many US States, and large-size, heavy-caliber handguns such as this finds a niche among big game hunters for quarry such as whitetail deer, elk, black bears, or feral hogs, and for controlling pests and predators such as coyotes.
Elsewhere, the Model 2020 Heatseeker Pistol will find acceptance among Field Target and other sport shooting enthuisiasts, particularly in the Nordic Handgun Field Shooting and silhouette shooting communities. It certainly has all the features to do so.

Like the Model 2020 Heatseeker Rifle, Springfield Armory's new Model 2020 Heatseeker Pistol is built on a Sharps Bros. chassis machined out of a single 6061-T6 aluminum alloy billet, featuring a free-float alloy handguard with two QD sling swivel studs and six series of M-LOK slots for accessories.
The chassis also features a rear vertical Picatinny rail segment for add-on stocks or armbraces, depending on local laws and regulations. It also comes fitted from factory with a black polymer B5 Systems P5 ergonomic vertical pistol grip.
The action of the Model 2020 Heatseeker Pistol is machined out of stainless steel and features the same Cerakote H-146 graphite black protective finish found on the chassis; inside it, a fluted, nitride-finished, 4140 tool steel bolt with two locking lugs runs on electronic-discharge machined (EDM) raceways.
The action features a top MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail for optics, attached via 6-48 Torx screws on two Remington 700 SA pattern mounts; the user may thus remove the rail and attach any scope directly on the action via Remington 700 SA compatible rings if he or she so prefers.
The Springfield Armory Model 2020 Heatseeker Pistol features a stainless steel 304 mm / 12" long barrel, with six right-handed grooves, a 1:10" twist rate, a full Cerakote H-146 graphite black outer finish, and a Springfield Armory radial muzzle brake installed on to a 5/8x24 thread.
Other features include a TriggerTech improved trigger, whose pull weight user-adjustable between 1,13 and 2,26 kg (2.5 - 5 lbs), and a two-position manual safety located right behind the charging handle.
The Springfield Armory Model 2020 Heatseeker Pistol comes issued from factory with a detachable E-MAG metal magazine with a polymer floorplate, holding up to five rounds of .308 Winchester ammunition; the magazine release catch is located underneath the trigger guard and is ambidextrous. The magazine well will accept most Accuracy International AICS system compatible detachable magazines, regardless of make and capacity.
Standing at 571 mm / 22.½" in overall length and weighing in at 2,72 kilograms / 6 lbs when empty, the Springfield Armory Model 2020 Heatseeker Pistol is sold on the US market at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $1,999.
