New for 2026, FN America LLC. announces the FN 309 MRD semi-automatic pistol: a design conceived specifically for the concealed carry, personal and home protection markets that aims at establishing the brand within the ranks of the providers of affordable self-defense solutions with a very competitive suggested retail price of $549 in the United States.

Built on a reinforced polymer frame, with a Picatinny rail for tactical accessories and a finely textured, ergonomic slip-proof grip, the FN 309 MRD pistol feeds through double-stack magazines holding sixteen or twenty rounds of 9mm Luger. The magazine catch is reversible for left-hand users, and the magazine spring force is 40% lower compared to other firearms in its class for easier loading.

The trigger is single-action only, internal hammer-fired (not striker-fired!), and features several redundant safety mechanisms – although a manual safety version will be optionally available.

The machined steel slide features a drift-adjustable, over-molded green fiber-optic front sight and a rounded white accent U-notch rear sight, installed on FN 509 compatible dovetails for increased compatibility with aftermarket sights. The slide is also optics-ready, compatible with micro red dot sights with DeltaPoint Pro and Shield RMS footprints. Boasting 25% less slide resistance compared to the FN 509 Tactical pistol, the FN 309 MRD is also easier to rack.
