The Mossberg 940 Pro Tactical SPX 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun made its official debut on the European markets at the 2025 edition of IWA OutdoorClassics in Nuremberg, Germany, just over one month after its official global launch back at the SHOT Show in January.

An upgrade over the 940 Pro Tactical series first introduced in Spring 2022, Mossberg's new 940 Pro Tactical SPX is a valid alternative both for home and property defense as well as for practical shooting competitions, law enforcement, private security, and tactical applications.

The Mossberg 940 Pro Tactical SPX shotgun is available in a matte black or Cerakote OD green or FDE finish, as well as in 6-shots and 8-shots configurations, but all are based on a gas-operating system for consistently reliable cycling and feature several key components – including the gas piston, mag tube, hammer, and sear – coated in nickel-boron for superior durability and resistance to corrosion.

The controls, ejection window and feeding port are oversized for reliable and easier operation; the innovatively-designed black polymer forend features integrated heat shield, two QD cups, and three M-LOK mounting slots (3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions), with an additional double M-LOK clamp located further forward on the barrel; and the black polymer shotgun can be customized via a spacer system that offers incremental 12.5"-14.25" length of pull.

All Mossberg 940 Pro Tactical SPX shotguns come with a fixed fiber optic front sight and a Ghost Ring rear sight; both feature protective wings, and the rear sight is installed directly on a machined optics-ready interface that allows its replacement with Shield RMSc or Holosun 507k footprint micro red dot sights; the Holosun 507k is optionally available installed and boresighted to the shotgun from factory. Adapter plates also allow the use of Docter, Leupold, or Trijicon RMR micro red dot sights.
