The “difference” at the 30th Muzzle Loaders Associations International Committee (MLAIC) World Championship will be made by the competition, certainly exciting and spectacular, but also by the Italian style and taste…

Therefore, it is impossible to miss the event that will take place from 25 to 31 August at the Valeggio sul Mincio shooting range, in the province of Verona. Not only for the beauty of the surrounding areas, but also because the catering, directly on the shooting range, during the entire World Championship, will be taken care of by an “executive chef”: Mauro Fabbri, for 35 years chef and co-owner of the famous traditional restaurant Diana in Bologna.

The innovative proposal for the Italian World Championship is the possibility, for shooters, their friends and the public, to also stop for dinner at the range, after the awards ceremony, in the 800 square meters tent, by booking on site during the day. The menu is an expression of the culinary tradition of the Belpaese.

There is a lot of anticipation for the World Championship. We have had direct confirmation of this from the shooters. Hungarian Balasz Nemeth, multiple medalist at World and European Championships, as well as organizer of international MLAIC competitions: “Italy has always been the key country for muzzle loading. Let's not forget that most of our competition guns come from your beautiful country. Italy has organized several international competitions in the past and the hospitality it has shown has always been first-rate!

I see a great team behind Italian black powder shooting, and this is the most important asset. I am training hard to aim for individual medals, but I would also like to contribute in team events”.

Mathieu Ducellier, 50-time French champion and a dozen-time European and World champion: “It is very important that the championships are organized by different countries, I have already come to Italy several times to the World Championships in Parma and also every year to the Italian Grand Prix. I like coming to Italy, also for the Italian gastronomy. For this championship I want above all to have fun and the results will come by themselves”.

The German shooter Franz Lotspeich, several-time champion in muzzle-loading clay shooting: “For me it is something special to take part in the World Championships in Italy. I am looking forward to having nice fair competitions and meeting friends from all over the world”.

The Austrian shooter Herbert Wagner, pistol specialist, several times on the world and European podiums: “It is a great moment to be able to take part in a World Championship again. The expectations are high, also because I have achieved good results throughout the year. Of course I will do my best and hope to bring home one or two medals for Austria”.

Training is scheduled for Sunday, August 25 and Monday, August 26.

The opening ceremony will be held on Monday, August 26, starting at 7:00 PM in Borghetto, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.

The competition will take place over 4 days, from Tuesday, August 27 to Saturday, August 31, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM with some variations for all 27 MLAIC shooting specialties at 25, 50 and 100 meters and the 4 clay shooting specialties.

500 shooters are expected for a maximum of 1,800 performances.
