Winchester Wildcat Sporter and Wildcat Sporter SR semi-automatic rimfire rifles
SHOT Show 2023 – Winchester expands the Wildcat series of .22 Long rifle semi-automatic rifles with the launch of the Sporter and Sporter SR models, built around a Grade 1 wood stock
The new Winchester Wildcat Sporter and Winchester Wildcat Sporter SR .22 Long Rifle semi-automatic rifles, introduced at the 2023 edition of SHOT Show in Las Vegas, add up to an already very popular of reliable, accurate and fun to shoot rimfire autoloaders. Ideal for small game hunting and pest control, target practice and plinking, the Winchester Wildcat rifles already are some of the best-selling autoloading rimfire rifles of modern times.
The Wildcat Sporter and Wildcat Sporter SR rifles both come equipped with a Grade 1satin finished wood stock that adds a traditional look and feel to this modern-day semi-auto; the stock’s slightly longer length of pull, compared to the composite models of the line, makes it more comfortable for larger shooters to shoulder. The grip surfaces are checkered for a secure grip. Sling swivel studs are also included. Both models feed through 10-round rotary magazines with a polymer body, metal feed lips, and a spring-assisted ejection. Other features include a reversible manual safety button, integral top Picatinny rail for optics, a fully adjustable Ghost Ring rear sight, and a ramped post front sight.
The barrel – precision button-rifled out of chrome-moly steel on both variants – makes the difference between the two: the Winchester Wildcat Sporter features a 457 mm / 18” barrel with a recessed Target crown, while the Winchester Wildcat Sporter SR sports a 419 mm / 16.½” barrel with a 1/2×28 TPI protected thread at the muzzle for flash hiders, muzzle brakes, compensators, or sound suppressors. MSRP for the US market is set at $349.99 for the Wildcat Sporter and $369.99 for the Wildcat Sporter SR.
