Where: Exhibition Centre Nuremberg
Date: Friday, 4 to Monday, 7 March 2016
Opening times: Daily: 09:00 - 18:00 / Monday: 09:00 - 16:00
The leading international trade fair for hunting and shooting sports, outdoor equipment and equipment for civilian and official security requirements, brought almost 1,400 exhibitors and some 42,000 trade visitors from over 120 countries to Nuremberg in 2015. There will be an additional exhibition hall for the 2016 event.
The exhibition is divided into three main segments: “Target Sports”, “Nature Activities” and “Protecting People”, in which the participating companies can display their proven products alongside new and innovative developments, from hunting and sporting weapons to ammunition and optics, outdoor clothing, backpacks, knives and binoculars, and equipment for official use and self-defence.
First impressions count: New Product Center
Awaiting trade visitors right in the foyer area of the “Mitte” entrance to IWA OutdoorClassics is the New Product Center – offering a preview of new developments and innovations being presented by the exhibitors. A good starting point, in other words, before moving on to the rest of the voyage of discovery through the multifaceted world of IWA OutdoorClassics.
Three themes, one meeting place: the new “trendcafé”
The trendcafé in hall 3 is a new meeting place amid all the trade fair action. The concept combines special culinary experiences with information on three “trend themes” that suggest interesting ways of adapting the products supplied by the specialist trade to suit current and future demand. The programme will start with a broad offering of presentations by international speakers arranged in three “trend boxes”: “Classic Outdoor”, “Preparedness” and “Silencers”, with support from the trade publications.
Craftsmanship at the Gunmaker Market
“Tradition meets modernity” is the theme for the new and attractive area in the passage between hall 4A and the new hall 3A. This is where trade visitors can learn about what goes on in gunsmiths’ workshops and discover real collectors’ pieces, while gunmaking schools demonstrate their expertise and show what they can offer in the way of training courses. There are also presentations such as the Watch out! showcases, the annual VDB lottery and falconers with their birds of prey.
Information from professionals: IWA Forum
This forum in the special area in hall 7A is organised in cooperation with the Verband Deutscher Büchsenmacher und Waffenfachhändler (VDB – the German gunsmiths and traders association) and the Verband der Hersteller von Jagd-, Sportwaffen und Munition (JSM – the German firearms and ammunition manufacturers association), and offers top presentations by prominent representatives from ministries, science, associations and other organisations.
Safety “live” in the Demonstration Area
The Demonstration Area in hall 9 is once again being used to show the latest developments in civilian and official self-defence live in action and offers exhibitors and visitors the unique opportunity to discuss the advantages, possible applications and operation of products.
Bull’s eyes all round: Archery Shooting Range
The Archery Shooting Range will once again be in its usual spot in hall 5, where exhibitors and visitors can update on the latest archery trends at close range, and discover the positive effect of mental concentration and physical tension, while the professionals explain the range of archery products that will help companies hit the bull’s eye for their business.
Seeking professionals: the IWA Job Center
Anyone hunting for qualified employees with special knowledge of the industry, or seeking a new job opportunity for themselves should not miss the IWA job center in foyer hall 1, where current job offers and requests will be published during the exhibition, as a way of bringing businesses and applicants together.
Young and innovative businesses
The “Innovation made in Germany” pavilion in hall 4 provides an opportunity for young businesses to introduce themselves to trade visitors at IWA OutdoorClassics and present their product innovations. Sponsored by the German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy, the Federal Office for Economics and Export Control (BAFA) and the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) and organised by NürnbergMesse, this pavilion will make its first appearance at IWA OutdoorClassics 2016.
Always up to date with the IWA Smartphone App
The free app for iOS and Android Smartphones is the ideal accompaniment to ensure that visits to the trade fair are as efficient as possible. Trade visitors can create their own individual watch list of exhibitors, products and events, and push notifications will draw attention to any changes affecting items on the list. The dynamic floor plan ensures effortless orientation at the exhibition venue – and the integrated GPS-based “carfinder” will guide visitors back to their own car accurately at the end of their visit. All content is always available offline and regular updates ensure it is kept constantly up to date. For mobile use on tablets, the official event website www.iwa.info has been optimised using responsive design to make it even more user-friendly.
