Our readers will likely remember the troubles surrounding the 2017 IPSC Rifle World Shoot, held in Moscow in late May and early June: some European Countries – more specifically Austria, France, Germany and the Netherlands – forbade their IPSC shooters from travelling to Moscow and taking part to the World Shoot with their own guns and equipment.
In the turn of a few days, Dutch shooters won a court case against the Dutch Government authorities whose stance on the matter was deemed illegal. Others weren't so lucky; that's the case of the Austrian IPSC team that reached the Wien-Schwechat International Airport on Hunbe 2nd, 2017, with all paperworks in correct order, only to be stopped by customs officers who had received orders not to let the shooters board the plane to Moscow with any of their firearms, ammunition, optics, or any other piece of their gear.

Almost one month has gone by, but their ordeal has been by no means forgotten. Mario Kneringer, Regional Director for IPSC Austria, has been very clear about this in the video-interview he released to the Austrian branch of the Firearms United network.
Mr. Kneringer's interview to Firearms United Austria provides an accurate report on what happened that day at the Wien airport – including IPSC Austria's suspects concerning the mysterious nature and origin of the orders that Customs officials were forced to obey to, despite recognizing their illegal nature and their non-compliance with both Austrian laws and European regulations – and anticipates that legal action will be carried on to make sure that those responsible for the ordeal will be positively identified and accountable.
The truth, and its consequences, shall emerge in a court of law. In the meanwhile sport shooters, gun enthusiasts and gun rights advocates all through Europe should be pleased to know that there is at least one sport shooting federation in the continent that decided to fight back rather than just accept and put up with the continuous harrassment, diktats and blackmailing of anti-gun politicians, governments, ministries, bureaucrats, Police, and other State entities.
