VIDEO: RADAR 1957 Company Profile
With sixty years of experience on the market, the company RADAR 1957 (also known as Radar Leather Division) is a world-level leader in the manufacture of civilian and professional-grade holsters, magazine pouches, and similar accessories. Let's take a look at their history and technology!
A history of success
Headquartered in the town of Fucecchio − a small center in the metropolitan area of Florence − Radar Leather Division S.r.l., also known as RADAR 1957, is today one of the world's major manufacturers of holsters, ammunition carriers, and other similar tactical accessories for the global civilian and professional markets alike.
A history of success that started when the company was first established in 1957, as a leather shop that offered − among other things − cartridge belts, rifle and shotgun slings, and similar leather products for hunting purposes.
It was not before the 1970s that the leather products line of the Radar company would expand to include handgun holsters for concealed and open carry, dedicated to civilians and Police personnel.
In the 1980s, tactical cordura products would be added to the line, and by the 1990s, most of the RADAR's product line would be dedicated to satisfy the needs and the demands of local and national law enforcement agencies, private security operators, and military units.
A major technological breakthrough hit RADAR like a storm in the 2000s, when the new generation of the Pellegrini family − the historical owners of the Company − came to prominence. Under their input and feedback, the Company entered the then seldom explored segment of tactical safety polymer holsters. New and dedicated design, engineering and manufacturing technologies were acquired, and the relevant positions within the Company were established for experts that would quickly bring the RADAR name to the current level of global prominence.
Today, RADAR is a true powerhouse in the field of law enforcement and military equipment, offering a product line that ranges from polymer, cordura and leather holsters and other similar accessories to stab-proof vests and tactical vests, body armor, and riot control protections. Almost all of its pro-line products are also available on the commercial/civilian market, and used by countless law enforcement agencies and military units around the globe. Very recenty − more specifically in the year 2014 − RADAR was awarded by the UK MoD with a contract to supply its 6661 Safe+Index&Thumb polymer duty holster with multiple retention systems to the British Armed Forces as they transitioned from the decades-old Browning High Power service pistol to the recently adopted Glock 17 Gen.4.
