Nitecore MT21C multifunctional adjustable flashlight
When versatility can not be disregarded as a mere "optional", you know you can rely on Nitecore's brand new MT21C flashlight, offering a staggering 1000 Lumen output and easily changed from a tactical flashlight into a 90-degree angle torch for work, utility, or rescue
Our followers should already be familiar, right now, with the Nitecore name. Headquartered in China, like most of the companies operating in its field on a global level, Nitecore rapidly earned a well-respected position as a manufacturer and distributor of tactical, utility, professional or search/rescue flashlights – often in head-on and worthy competition with other leading companies such as China's own Fenix or Olight, or other western brands such as SureFire or Streamlight to name a few.
Among the newest and most interesting products introduced by Nitecore at the 2018 edition of the IWA OutdoorClassics international trade fair in Nuremberg (Germany), back in March, the MT21C multifunctional adjustable flashlight stands as a prime example of the Company's philosophy of quality, innovation and versatility that got the Nitecore brand so far in such a relatively short amount of time.
The centerpiece of Nitecore's MT21C – and what makes it a true "multifunctional adjustable flashlight" – is a very peculiar 1" / 25,4mm adjustable head.
Manufactured out of Type III hard-anodized, black lightweight aircraft-grade aluminum alloy – just like the rest of the torch body – the head of the Nitecore MT21C flashlight hosts a single CREE XP-L HD V6 LED in an alloy PDOT (Precision Digital Optics Technology) reflector, custom-engineered through digital simulation to achieve precise point-to-point curved reflecting methods and optimize performance.
The front lens is manufactured out of toughened, ultra-clear mineral glass with a reflex-proof coating. At the flick of a finger, the head of the Nitecore MT21C can tilt to a 90-degrees position, turning this standard flashlight into an angle torch for reading, camping, outdoors and speleology, search and rescue, industrial work, and much more.
A magnetized base will keep the Nitecore MT21C firmly in place on any metal surface, even upside-down.
A metal loop, a steel belt or vest clip and the issued lanyard and holster do the rest: the Nitecore MT21C converts rapidly from a tactical/EDC flashlight to an utility torch offering high performance and hands-free operation.
A single 18650 rechargeable battery is issued with every Nitecore MT21C flashlight, but two CR123A or RCR123A batteries can be used if need be. The battery compartment features an electronic polarity reverse protection system to prevent any damage caused by incorrectly installed batteries.
A single metal side button dubs both as an on-off switch and as a navigation control through the available modes: a Turbo mode provides a 1000-Lumen, 8500-Candela output; the High mode provides for a 400 Lumen, 1270 Candela beam; the Mid mode offers a dimmer 190-Lumen, 1800-Candela beam, while in the Low mode, the flashlight emits a 50-Lumen, 450-Candela beam.
The button also provides quick-access to the Turbo mode with a single 2,5 seconds pressure, and to a special Ultra-Low mode with a half-second push. Providing barely a 1-Lumen, 10 Candela output, the Ultra-Low mode is ideal for reading documents or maps in the dark without fatigue and without compromising your night vision. Three special, 1000-Lumen modes are also quickly accessible: a tactical strobe, a beacon and an SOS mode.
A single, fully charged 18650 battery will last from one to 700 hours of continuous runtime depending from the selected output mode. The power consumption of the Nitecore MT21C flashlight is managed by a non-PWM high-efficiency constant circuit that provides an unwavering output and reduces visual fatigue, while an ATR advanced temperature regulation system allows the Nitecore MT21C to self-regulate its output and adapt to the temperature of the surrounding environment to maintain optimal performance.
A built-in blue light battery level indicator located beneath the switch can be activated with a tap to check the remaining power level. 13,1 cm / 5.15" long overall for a weight of 103,5 grams (3.65 oz), the Nitecore MT21C flashlight is sold at a retail price of about 60 USD or 60+ euro: a totally affordable price for any user.
Shockproof, waterproof, easily converted to hands-free operation and highly performing, the Nitecore MT21C is definitely some welcome news for those professionals who may want to spend their hard-earned money to purchase high-end duty equipment.
