SHOT Show 2026 – Mossberg expands the 990 SPX line of shotguns with the launch of two new Aftershock grip variants and two models with MagPul stock

Mossberg 990 SPX MagPul and Aftershock: the new semi-automatic tactical shotguns

New for 2026, the 12-gauge Mossberg 990 SPX MagPul shotguns and 990 Aftershock SPX firearms expand on the already popular 990 line of semi-automatic tactical and defensive shotgun lines with four new variants dedicated to sport shooting – particularly practical shooting – as well as home and property defense and law enforcement applications.

Both the 990 SPX MagPul and 990 Aftershock SPX models are gas-operated, semi-automatic, and available in a 5+1 shots or 7+1 configuration, with features such as a drilled and tapped frame that is also optics-ready for Shield RMSc footprint red dot sights, a new design forend with integrated heat shield, multiple M-LOK accessory slots and QD ports, and oversized ergonomic safety and bolt release. Both are also available with either a 47 cm (18.½") or 37,4 cm (14.¾") barrel.

The 990 SPX MagPul shotguns come with a MagPul SGA buttstock, with a fully adjustable length of pull via a set of spacers; in this case, the 14.¾" barrel variant is considered an NFA item in the US and all NFA rules apply.

The 990 Aftershock SPX models come instead with a horizontal Aftershock grip that classifies them as Title 1 "Firearms", with barrel length thus being irrelevant.

MSRP on the US market is set at $1,309.00 for the Mossberg 990 SPX MagPul shotguns in all variants, and at $1,204.00 for all versions of the Mossberg 990 Aftershock SPX.
