Pedersoli 1886 Sporting Classic lever-action rifle
SHOT Show 2019 – The Pedersoli 1886 Sporting Classic Rifle is a faithful Italian-made replica of the original big bore Winchester 1886 rifle designed by John Moses Browning
The Pedersoli 1886 Sporting Classic Rifle is the latest entry in the Italian company's reknown catalogue of lever-action rifles and historic replica rifles, and a perfect replica of the Winchester model 1886 lever-action rifle engineered by John Moses Browning itself. Packed with desirable features, the Pedersoli 1886 Sporting Classic Rifle stands among all others in its class.
The Pedersoli 1886 Sporting Classic Rifle is built around an elegant color case-hardened receiver that's CNC-machined from a forged steel block and is drilled and tapped on the left side and at the tang to fit a peep sight.
The magazine tube sports a black finish, is loaded from a port located on the right side of the receiver, and holds eight rounds of .45/70 Government ammunition. The Pedersoli 1886 Sporting Classic Rifle ejects from the top.
Unlike other variants of the design, the Pedersoli 1886 Sporting Classic Rifle comes with a round barrel that's 26"/66cm long and sports a 1:18" rifling pitch. The Sporting Classic Rifle uses PMG (Precision Match Grade) barrels, manufactured by Pedersoli on state-of-the art CNC machineries and then slowly broached for Match-grade accuracy.
The Pedersoli 1886 Sporting Classic rifle relies upon John Moses Browning's tried-and-true lever-action locking system, with two robust vertically-sliding locking lugs that firmly keep breechbolt locked from the rear when the lever is up at rest. The Winchester 1886 locking system has always been known to be more reliable than those found on previous models such as the Winchester 1866, 1873 or 1876 – sturdy enough, indeed, to withstand the pressure of .45/70 Government and other big-bore calibers such as .45/90 or .50/110 Winchester.
Standing at 44.7/8" (1140 mm) in length, the Pedersoli 1886 Sporting Classic Rifle is hefty heavy at 9.26 lbs (4,2 kilograms). The hammer of the Sporting Classic Rifle can be set to a half-cock position and dub as a manual safety.
Other features of the Pedersoli 1886 Sporting Classic Rifle include a drift-adjustable Buckhorn-style rear sight, a likewise drift-adjustable blade front sight with a brass bead, an English-style straight stock and handguard manufactured out of walnut, and a curved iron buttplate.
