Savage Arms announces a new entry in their wildly successful Impulse line of straight-pull rifles: the Driven Hunter model is available in four calibers and specially designed for predators, hogs, and driven hunts
The Savage Arms Impulse line of wildly successful straight-pull rifles has a new member: officially launched in north America on February 28th, 2023, the Savage Arms Impulse Driven Hunter straight-pull rifle was specially designed for predators, hogs and driven hunts in those environments where the use of semi-automatic rifles and shotguns for hunting is prohibited or severely limited.
The Hexlock bolt system of the Savage Arms Impulse straight-pull rifle family combines the safety and accuracy of a traditional bolt-action rifle with a bolt-action speed close to that of a self-loading rifle, and the charging handle can be moved to different inclination angles for better ergonomics and even reversed in position for left-handed or right-handed shooters.
With its 457 mm / 18" or 508 mm / 20" carbon steel barrel, the Impulse Driven Hunter rifle is more maneuverable in close engagements than most other entries in the Savage Arms Impulse series. A 1/2x28 thread at the muzzle allows for easy installation of accessories such as muzzle brakes, flash hiders, or sound suppressors.
The Impulse Driven Hunter rifle is built on a rugged, grey synthetic stock featuring Savage Arms' own, patented AccuStock aluminum bedding system, supporting the barreled action on three dimensions for maximum stability without weighing down on the rifle, which stands at approximately 3,2 kilograms (7.1 to 7.2 lbs) when empty in all of its variants.
The AccuFit system of inserts and shims allows shooters to adjust the stock LOP and the cheekpiece to better suit their personal ergonomics; the Impulse Driven Hunter also features the patented Savage Arms AccuTrigger externally used-adjustable trigger system, whose weight can be set on a 680 grams to 1,8 kilograms (1.5 ‐ 4 lbs) range by the user without requiring assistance from a gunsmith.
Other features of the Savage Arms Impulse Driven Hunter straight-pull rifle include a tab-style safety lever located right behind the action, at easy and convenient thumb reach for left-handed and right-handed shooters alike; and a 20-MOA MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail machined on top of the aluminum action, providing a sturdy mounting platform for the user's choice of optics.
As of today, four calibers have been announced for the Impulse Driven Hunter: .308 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield, 6.5 Creedmoor, and .300 Winchester Magnum – all typically north-American calibers, which however will fare excellently against the most typically European driven hunting quarry as well. A detachable, proprietary magazine offers a capacity of three rounds in .300 Winchester Magnum or four rounds in all other calibers.
The manufacturer's suggested retail price for the Savage Arms Impulse Driven Hunter straight-pull rifle, in all its variants, is set at $1,399.00 on the US market.
Information concerning export availability and pricing is yet to be released.
