Smith & Wesson's 10mm Auto M&P M2.0 pistol gets the Performance Center makeover, with a longer, ported barrel, enhanced trigger and optics-ready slide for higher defensive, hunting, and sporting performances
Smith & Wesson's M&P line of polymer frame, striker-fired pistols – first introduced as the Company's new flagship pistols series in 2005 and evolved in the M2.0 format in 2017 – expands with the launch of yet another variant for mid-2023.
The new Smith & Wesson Performance Center M&P 10mm M2.0 semi-automatic pistol, officially launched on the US market on May 16th, is a Performance Center optimized variant of the 10mm Auto M&P M2.0, with multiple improved features for hunting (where hunting with handguns is allowed), personal or home defense, tactical applications, and shooting competitions.
As a take on the baseline Smith & Wesson M&P 10mm M2.0, which was first launched in late 2021, this new model features the same railed polymer frame with a modular, ergonomic grip system.
The new variant also feeds through the same 15-rounds, double-stack metal magazines, and features the same controls configuration as the baseline 10mm Auto M&P M2.0, although the frame-mounted ambidextrous manual safety – an optional on the legacy baseline model – is a standard on this new version.
The new Smith & Wesson Performance Center M&P 10mm M2.0 also features a tuned, flat M2.0 trigger with a crisp break and audible reset; and an extended rigid stainless steel chassis embedded into the polymer frame to reduce flex and torque when firing.
The barrel on the new Smith & Wesson Performance Center M&P 10mm M2.0 is 14,2 cm / 5.6" long overall, featuring two porting cuts on top and a precision 1:10" rifling pitch for optimum stabilization of any 10mm Auto load.
The black stainless steel, Armornite-finished machined slide has consequently been lenghtened and featured with a massive front compensator to reduce the felt recoil and muzzle climb of such an energic caliber, thus providing better shooting stability, comfort and accuracy, and allowing for quick follow-up shots.
Also machined on top of the slide is Smith & Wesson's proprietary C.O.R.E. modular optics mount, protected by a removable metal plate, which allows the installation of numerous micro red dot sights among the world's most popular through the use of a set of model-specific adapter plates.
The dovetailed, high-visibility front and rear night sight are conveniently raised to "silencer height", allowing them to perfectly co-witness with the red dot for easier zeroing of the latter and for a more convenient and intuitive use as a backup.
The new Smith & Wesson Performance Center M&P 10mm M2.0 is 21,8 cm / 8.6" long overall, weighs in at barely 890 grams (31.4 oz) when empty, and is safer than ever thanks to the patented take-down lever and sear deactivation systems, allowing for disassembly without pulling the trigger. A perfect option for those looking to step up their game on the field, at the range, or on the meanest streets!
The new Smith & Wesson Performance Center M&P 10mm M2.0 pistol is available on the US market at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $749.00; the pistol is sold with two magazines and a set of four interchangeable grip palmswells.
