The Pedersoli Cook Underhammer .36-caliber pistol is a lightweight muzzleloading target shooting pistol featuring an "underhammer" design.
A relative rarity, underhammer muzzleloading pistols were among the first to ever use copper percussion caps, and featured a nipple and hammer located under the barrel and in line with it, in order to keep the hammer clear from the line of sight and making sure that sparks from the percussion cap wouldn't hit the shooter's face.
This kind of pistol was always more of a target shooting tool than a defensive or service weapon, although defensive use of underhammer pistols is indeed documented – particularly in north America – as their design made them more comfortable to carry and harder to snag on something when being drawn from a belt.

The Pedersoli Cook Underhammer pistol is built around a – very ergonomic, for the age of the design! – walnut grip, and a 7.8"/20cm long, .36-bore PMG "Premium Match Grade" steel barrel, featuring seven broached grooves in a 1:17.7" pitch. The grip and barrel assembly are held together by a conic pin.
The Cook Underhammer pistol features a full set of adjustable sights: the front sight is adjustable for windage, while the rear sight is adjustable for elevation. The Pedersoli Cook Underhammer pistol is 36 cm / 14.17" long overall, and weighs 920 grams / 32.45 oz.
