The new Kimber R7 Mako Carbon Compact 9mm Luger semi-automatic pistol, officially announced on the US market on August 14, expands the R7 Mako line of pistols – first launched on the global markets in the summer of 2021 – with a wider-body variant that will perform exceptionally as a concealed carry handgun as well as becoming a viable alternative for law enforcement, private security, and tactical applications.

A striker-fired pistol like the sub-compact R7 Mako, the new R7 Carbon Compact features Kimber's Performance Carry Trigger, with a fluid travel, a crisp break, a built-in trigger safety, and a 2,2 / 3kg (5.0 - 6.75 lb.) pull. The side ejection port and no-snag design combine to create a sleek firearm for personal protection.

The black FNC-finished, stainless steel slide is essentially a lengthened variant of the R7 Mako design, while the frame has been completely redesigned with enhanced ergonomics, molded stipplings, flared magazine well, and ambidextrous magazine catch, slide stop, and disassembly lever.

Even more important, the frame of the new Kimber R7 Mako Carbon Compact pistol is manufactured out of a carbon fiber-infused polymer matrix boasting a 60,000lbs PSI (approx. 413 mPa) tensile strength.

Each sample comes from factory with four interchangeable grip backstraps and two 15-rounds double-stack magazines.

All models are optics ready from factory, compatible with Shield RSMc/Holosun K footprint micro red dot sights, and come with a set of TruGlo Tritium Pro night sights.

The baseline model is 177 mm / 7" long overall, comes with a 9,9 cm / 3.9" barrel, and weighs in at 691 grams (24.4 oz) without a magazine; the manufacturer's suggested retail price starts at $735.00 on the US market.

The Kimber R7 Mako Carbon Compact is also available with a threaded 111 mm / 4.4" barrel, and both variants can be ordered with a factory-issued Holosun 507K micro red dot sight; the price will increase depending on the configuration, up to $1,080.00.
