Kimber Aegis Elite Pro and Hero Custom 1911 pistols
Kimber expands its line of 1911-style pistols for 2018 with the launch of the Hero Custom 1911 pistol and of a new version of the Aegis Elite Pro, factory-issued with a red dot sight
Kimber Aegis Elite Pro
Kimber Mfg., Inc. announced several additions to its popular line of 1911-type handguns for 2018. Among those, the Kimber Aegis Elite Pro line is definitely worth a closer look. With a striking yet utilitarian design, Kimber Aegis Elite 1911’s ideal for a wide range of product uses, such as, concealed carry, home defense and target shooting. Available in five variants, the Aegis Elite is available chambered in 9mm or .45 ACP in each model.
This versatile, red dot sight-integrated 1911 family is available in Custom (5”) and Pro (4”) sizes, and feature a milled and installed Vortex Optics® Venom™ Red Dot 6-MOA sight and co-witnessing white 3-dot sights for rapid target acquisition, a satin silver round heel frame, black slide sporting Kimber’s new AEX serrations, a match-grade barrel, 24-LPI front strap serrations, green, black and gray G10 grips, and a premium aluminum trigger.
The Aegis Elite 1911 family also has non-red-dot-mounted models available in Custom, Pro and Ultra (3”) sizes, where green and red fiber optic sights replace the mounted red dot sight.
Kimber Hero Custom 1911
The Kimber Hero Custom 1911 is instead conceived to be, at the same time, one of the most reliable 1911-type pistols available on the market and a tribute to American servicemen and servicewomen. Built to signify Kimber's status as a proud sponsor of the Boot Campaign, it comes in .45 ACP only with 7-rounds single-stack magazines and features a black slide with tan engravings – including the American flag – as well as a desert tan frame and a set of green and red fiber-optic sights with a 6.8-inch sight radius.
The Kimber Hero Custom 1911 pistol also offers composite grip panels in Kryptek Highlander camo, although a choice of alternative grips manufactured out of rosewood are also available. The 5-inch Match-grade stainless steel barrel comes with a matching stainless steel Match-grade bushing; the Kimber Hero Custom 1911 is 8.7 inch (22 cm) long overall and weighs 38 oz (1077 gr) unloaded.
