Colt Anaconda revolver: back by popular demand
Colt announces the return of the legendary Anaconda .44 Magnum caliber double-action revolver: will the new Czech property speeding up the re-launch process of Colt's most iconic products?
It's official: the Colt Anaconda .44 Magnum double-action revolver, another classic from Colt's iconic Snake series, returns on the international market in 2021 after decades of absence, much to the joy of shooters, outdoorsmen, collectors, and gun enthusiasts worldwide.
The Colt company has long been in the process to relaunch its Snake series of revolvers, but the recent acquisition of Colt by the CZ Česká Zbrojovka Group – which already owns and operates Dan Wesson, another historic US manufacturer of high quality revolvers – should speed up the process, bringing Colt back on the cutting edge after years and years of slump caused mostly by the loss of their long-standing quasi-monopoly over another modern firearm, the AR-15 rifle platform, that helped the Company to solidify their market position back in their heyday.
Improving and modernizing the 2021 iteration of the Colt Anaconda to make it even more solid than the classic model without distorting the lines and aesthetics that made it so famous has been a challenge indeed, but Colt engineers tackled it head-on.
By building the revolver around a redimensioned, beefed-up Python action and frame, Colt made the new Anaconda more than capable of withstanding years of hard use with the powerful .44 Magnum cartridge. The cylinder offers a classic capacity of six rounds.
A leaf-spring action provides a non-stacking, smooth-as-glass trigger pull, both in single and double action. The new Colt Anaconda revolver comes issued from factory with a Hogue overmolded, ergonomic, recoil-absorbing grip that's easily removed: the new Anaconda grip is interchangeable with all Python grips.
The new Colt Anaconda revolver is available with a six-inch or eight-inch full-lug barrel – all versions featuring shiny, fully stainless steel frame and barrel for additional reliability. All variants also come with a black rear sight and front post sight with a high-visibility red inlay installed on a ventilated rib.
Both the front and the rear sight can be adjusted for windage and elevation, and can be removed for replacement with a simple Allen key. Additionally, all new frames are drilled and tapped for scope rails and mounts, making the new Colt Anaconda an excellent choice for handgun hunting enthusiasts and sport shooters alike.
The new Colt Anaconda revolver is available on the US market at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $1,499.00; no information has been released so far concerning availability and pricing on the export markets.
