Archon Firearms had the new Type A 9mm Luger semi-automatic pistol on display at the 2025 edition of IWA in Nuremberg, Germany: a full-size version of the well-known Type B pistol, with a lengthened barrel and slide (just about 5" or a little less), the Type A was designed for tactical applications and competition shooting, particularly IPSC and USPSA practical shooting.

The lenghtened slide and barrel are the only things that tell the Type A apart from the service- and defense-oriented Type B; all other features are identical, starting from the striker-fired, flat-face trigger and ending with the proprietary AF-SPEEDLOCK locking system based on a sliding locking block that prevents the barrel from tilting.

Just like the currently-produced Type B, the new Archon Firearms Type A features a raised profile, ribbed rear sight and fiber optic front sight, and a factory-ready slide for micro red dot sights. Archon's new Type A is also built around the same reinforced polymer frame as the Type B, featuring a MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail for accessories on the dust cover and a modular grip assembly that can be lengthened to fit any hand size, any concealment requirements, and proprietary double-stack 10-, 15-, or 18-rounds magazines.
