Aimpoint's COA line of red dot sights keeps growing in 2026, and not just by becoming available on a broader range of handguns as announced at the SHOT Show back in January.

With the new Aimpoint COA-R enclosed emitter red dot sight, the latest entry in the Swedish company's already vast and appreciated catalog of optical solutions finally makes its debut on the hunting markets.

As lightweight and compact as it can be (45 x 28 x 30 mm in size and weighing in at barely 48 grams, or 1.77 x 1.1 x 1.18 inch per 1.69 ounces), Aimpoint's COA-R red dot sight uses a dedicated mount plate that converts the A-CUT footprint into an interface compatible with Aimpoint's own Micro red dot sights.

This allows hunters to use existing Micro mounting solutions while benefiting from the COA's patented mechanically locked system that secures the optic without screws entering the housing. The result is a stable, repeatable attachment that delivers confidence for accurate shooting at extended ranges.

The Aimpoint COA-R micro red dot sight features a 3.5 MOA center dot that was configured specifically for tempo, precision, and quick follow-up shots in dynamic hunting situations.

The position of the red dot can be zeroed manually via two recessed turrets, offering 20mm @ 100 m clicks for elevation adjustment and 30mm @ 100 m clicks for windage. Adjustment requires a Torx key, making accidental loss of zero due to careless handling or by walking through thick brush impossible.

Red dot brightness can be manually adjusted via two buttons encased on the left side of the sight; 12 different settings are available, the lowest four being compatible with night vision devices. Depending on the selected brightness level, a single CR2032 battery can offer up to 50,000 of continuous runtime.

Developed with a focus on longer distances and varied field scenarios, the Aimpoint COA-R aims at becoming the new market standard for clear, unobstructed view and rapid engagement capability on rifle platforms for all hunting specialties.

Starting in Spring 2026, COA R will be available on select rifles through partnerships with a wide range of leading manufacturers. No information concerning availability and pricing has been released yet; for further information, visit the official Aimpoint website.
