First introduced this year at the Las Vegas SHOT Show, the Sightmark XTM-3 flip-to-side magnifier is a mid-tier accessory conceived for commercial users, from hunters to leisure and sport shooters, down to those professionals – such as private security operators and local law enforcement agencies, particularly in the US – that normally procure a vast majority of their gear on the civilian market.
A good example of the quantum leap experienced by Sightmark as a brand and a product line in terms of both engineering and manufacturing quality in the past few years, the XTM-3 magnifier is entirely manufactured out of 6061-T6 lightweight aircraft-grade aluminum alloy, with a full scratch-resistant matte black finish and multi-coated optical glass lenses and optic components.
Standing at 69 mm / 3” in length, 55 mm / 2.16” in width and 68 mm / 2.67” in height (mounting interface included), Sightmark’s XTM-3 magnifier weighs in at barely 229 grams (8.1 oz), with no battery required for its operation, which makes it the lightest and most compact magnifier currently available on the global market, offering the same field of view and the same IPX-7 certified level of resistance against water and dust as its most direct competitors, including those offered by the world’s top brands in professional-grade optics, while shaving more than 30 grams (1 oz) off their average overall weight.
Aside from its wide 59 mm / 2.32” eye relief – the highest of any magnifier on the market, with a 5,6 mm / 0.22” exit pupil – and a 11,88 m field of view at 100 meters (35.7 @ 100 yards) with a full 6.8° angle, the Sightmark XTM-3 features two capped turrets that can be operated manually, without tools, to adjust the alignment of the eye box for windage and elevation.
The Sightmark XTM-3 is compatible with a vast majority of red dot and reflex sights currently available on the market, including all of Sightmark’s own, and comes from factory with a Picatinny compatible LQD Locking Quick Detach interface that allows the XTM-3 to be flipped to the side by just moving it without having to depress a release lever.
