We definitely live in a time of bombastic over-abundance of anything that is excessive and – more often than not – lacks a real purpose, as our readers may know all too well if you closely follow the field of sport optics and more generally the market for shooting accessories: how many times have you read of scopes or other accouterments rated to withstand “immersion in water up to 100 feet”, and how many times did you meet a hunter, a sport shooter, or even a professional MIL/LE/Govt. operator who could really likely lose a scoped rifle at such depth and actually have to retrieve it?

The brand new Sightmark Presidio 5-30x56 LR2 is an all-rounder riflescope for long-range precision hunting specialties such as mountain hunting, as well as for precision long-range shooting, 3-Gun and PRS competitions.

Built around a machined, nitrogen-purged, hard-anodized matte black 30mm single-piece aircraft grade aluminum alloy tube, the Sightmark Presidio LR2 5-30×56 features a Milliradian-based, glass-etched LR2 reticle on the first focal plane.

The knurled, capped, exposed low-profile adjustment turrets located over and to the right side of the tube provide a 22-MRAD adjustment range for both windage and elevation via 1/10 MRAD clicks. The turrets are lockable to prevent accidental loss of zero, and the elevation adjustment turret features a Zero-Stop system for a quick return to zero if need be.

A brightness adjustment dial located to the left side of the tube – hosting a single CR2032 battery as its power source – allows the red light illumination of the reticle to be set on six different levels for maximum visibility in all environmental light conditions; depending on the selected level of brightness, a single CR2032 battery will provide anywhere from 150 to 500 hours of continuous runtime. At the base of the rheostat is the side focus dial, allowing adjustment of the parallax from 20 yards (18,28 meters approx.) to infinite.

The zoom dial is located on the eyepiece, and is set to easily accommodate a factory-issued quick-throw lever. With its 6:1 zoom ratio and its field of view ranging between 22 feet to 3.7 feet (6,7 to 1,12 meters approx.) depending on the selected zoom level, the Sightmark Presidio 5-30x56 LR2 riflescope is capable to swiftly and fluidly pass from a wide and clear view of the entire FOV to a detailed close-up of any selected target with no hassle or loss of optical quality.

All optical glass components of the Sightmark Presidio 5-30x56 LR2 are fully multi-coated for optical clarity, glare reduction and superb light transmission, and the lenses in particular are treated with a scratch-proof, dirt-resistant coating.

The Sightmark Presidio 5-30x56 LR2 riflescope is also IP67-certified, meaning it’s completely impervious to dust and will withstand immersion in water at any depth between 15 centimeters (5.9”) and one meter (3.2 ft) for thirty minutes; it will also withstand shocks, drops, and recoil up to .338 Lapua Magnum.
