DiscoveryOpt ED PRS Gen2 5-25x56 SFIR FFP-Z riflescope
The DiscoveryOpt ED-PRS Gen2 5-25x56 SFIR FFP-Z riflescope offers attractive features at an attractive price point for those building their first precision shooting rifle.
The Discoveryopt ED-PRS Gen2 5-25x56 SFIR FFP-Z riflescope is still a relatively little-known product, but it's sure to attract attention given its price range.
The manufacturer is Chinese, one of many that over the years has accumulated a wealth of industry knowledge and technology, thanks primarily to its experience in contract manufacturing. This has allowed it to establish itself with a range of well-packaged products offered at attractive prices.
The most striking thing about this brand is that despite its affordable price, the optics are presented in very elegant packaging.

This specific model is aimed at an entry-level market segment for a specific category: PRS shooting. Those who are just starting out at the amateur level in this, as in many other disciplines, are generally not yet "totally crazy" like many experienced shooters nowaday, and they make their purchases within a more limited budget. It's therefore important that the market offers products that, at affordable prices, allow beginners to... get started and gain experience.

The DiscoveryOpt ED-PRS Gen2 5-25x56 SFIR FFP-Z riflescope is constructed from aircraft-grade aluminum with a protective black finish. The 34mm tube is nitrogen-filled and sealed with rubber gaskets. The optic is resistant to dust, water immersion and shock.
The low-dispersion lenses and all optical glass are manufactured by a Japanese supplier and feature a multilayer coating that further enhances the already high levels of light transmission and image clarity regardless of ambient light levels.
The optic is available with both Mil- and MOA-based reticles. The reticle is engraved in the first focal plane, meaning its size automatically adjusts with the image size when adjusting the magnification, ensuring consistent target size.
On the model we reviewed the reticle is MIL (MRAD, milliradians), adjustable to 36 MRAD in elevation and 17 MRAD in windage, and is illuminated in red.

The turrets, with 0.1 MRAD clicks, are located on the right side and above the scope body, and feature a Zero Stop system that allows them to be locked in a predetermined position to prevent loss of zero. On the left side is the parallax adjustment ring, which is connected to the rheostat for reticle illumination with eleven different levels, powered by a single CR2032 battery.

The zoom ring is located on the eyepiece and features a slot that can be screwed onto a quick-change lever, allowing for smooth transitions between all available magnification levels. The field of view ranges from 25 feet to 5 feet at the standard 100 yards (approximately 91.44 meters).
What makes the DiscoveryOpt ED-PRS Gen2 5-25x56 SFIR FFP-Z riflescope particularly attractive is its warranty: the company guarantees lifetime repair or replacement, without the need for a receipt, for all its products for any damage or defect that impedes their functionality. This is a particularly aggressive sales strategy in a market like that of optics, which has objectively become very crowded.
The DiscoveryOpt ED-PRS Gen2 5-25x56 SFIR FFP-Z riflescope comes with mounting rings, objective lens and eyepiece caps, a lens cloth and cleaning pen/brush, a triangular leveling base, a sunshade, and an Allen wrench set for installation and adjustments.
The list price of the DiscoveryOpt ED-PRS Gen2 5-25x56 SFIR FFP-Z riflescope is €359.99 and can be purchased directly from the company's website or from one of many authorized resellers.
