Ruger introduces the SP101 Match Champion double-action revolver
Following the launch of the GP100 Match Champion last year, Ruger introduces a brand new variant of the legendary SP101 revolver – yet another .357 Magnum battle horse brought to the next level!
There's no Summer holidays for the Sturm, Ruger & Co. company: one of America's most dynamic gunmakers does not cease to launch new and interesting products.
Following the recent launch of the 10mm Auto version of the SR1911 pistol, Ruger revisits yet another classic: the Ruger SP101 Match Champion revolver brings one of the Company's most solid, highly acclaimed and reliable projects to the next level, following a trend established last year with the launch of a Match Champion variant of the GP100 model.
Entirely manufactured out of stainless steel, with a full gloss stainless finish, the Ruger SP101 Match Champion double-action revolver comes with a 10,6 cm / 4.2" full-lug barrel with an 11° target crown and six right-handed grooves with a 1:16" rifling; such a setup delivers lively handling for quick transition between targets and competitive-level accuracy, although the SP101 Match Champion still remains a viable choice for personal, home and property defense.
The triple-locking cylinder hosts up to five rounds of .357 Magnum ammunition, and is locked into the frame at the front, rear and bottom for more positive alignment and dependable operation shot after shot.
Featuring a fiber-optic front sight and adjustable rear sight, the Ruger SP101 Match Champion revolver also offers polished and optimized internals and centering shims on the trigger and hammer produce a smooth double-action trigger pull and a crisp and consistent let-off. The takedown of integrated subassemblies requires no special tools and allows for easy maintenance and assembly.
The Ruger SP101 Match Champion revolver is 23,16 cm / 9.12" long overall and weighs 850 grams (30 oz.) when unloaded. The patented grip frame easily accommodates a variety of custom grips, but a custom Altamont hardwood grip with stippled and checkered sides comes standard – an ideal grip for any shooting environment.
MSRP for the Ruger SP101 Match Champion in the U.S. is set at $859.00 – that's around 756€ at the current exchange rate. No information concerning export availability has been released so far.
