Brand new for 2026, FN America introduces the next generation of the SCAR rifle platform in a semi-automatic variant directly for consumer, civilian, sporter, and law enforcement customers.

Over two dozen improvements – including a free-float machined alloy M-LOK handguard, a hydraulically-buffered two-piece bolt carrier for reduced recoil, a lengthened receiver, better compatibility and performance with sound suppressors, fully ambidextrous and customizable controls – have been implemented to the platform without modifying its distinctive signature form-factor.

The Next Generation SCAR platform is available in black and flat dark earth finishes, and in three variants: a 16-inch barrel SCAR 16S rifle chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO; a SCAR 17S heavy carbine with the same barrel length, available in 7.62x51mm NATO and 6.5 Creedmoor; and a SCAR 20S precision rifle, available in the same calibers as the heavy carbine, sporting a 20-inch barrel with a 5R rifling pattern, a foldable and adjustable stock, and a two-stage trigger.

The Next Generation SCAR rifle platform is compatible with forward-venting suppressors, with muzzle profiles having been updated to a ½×28 or 5/8×24 thread. A series of purpose-built FN QD quick-detach suppressors has however been released along with the Next Generation SCAR series, as a testament to FN's commitment to long-term support towards the new line of rifles.
