Officially announced on October the 1st, and currently available only on the US market, the NOX 9 9mm Luger semi-automatic pistol represents the pinnacle of well over twelve years of research, design, and development carried on personally by the founder of Jacob Grey Firearms, a South Carolina-based company that specializes in 2011 type pistols (1911 variants with double-stack magazine frames) for practical shooting competitions.

Leveraging years of multi-million dollar investiments in state-of-the-art CNC machinery, Jacob Grey Firearms manufactures the NOX 9 entirely out of steel: the frame is machined out of a solid billet of pre-hardened 4140 steel, while the slide is machined out of 416 steel with a diamond-like carbon (DLC) outer finish.

The hammer, sear, disconnector, enlarged magazine release button and the ambidextrous frame-mounted manual safety are instead manufactured following Jacob Grey Firearms' patented Armored Billet process: they're all CNC-machined out of ArmorCore alloy and either DLC or physical vapor deposition (PVD) treated to reduce friction and shrug off wear, like all key components.

Jacob Grey Firearms stresses specifically how no component in the NOX 9 is manufactured out of casting or MIM: everything is machined, all all components, bigger to smaller, are hand-assembled and hand-fitted, inspected, and tested.

From the overall lines to ergonomics, down to the features of the components and the trigger, every aspect of the Jacob Grey NOX 9 was built to maximize speed and accuracy. The 5-inch long, DLC-finished, 416 steel barrel, with its 1:10" twist rate, is integrally compensated, and so is the slide, for maximum recoil and muzzle climb reduction.

The single-action Radius Trigger, with its 1,1 kg / 2.5 lb pull, is entirely CNC-machined and adjustable for overtravel. The recoil system of the NOX 9 is composed by a 3,17 kg / 7 lbs variable recoil spring mounted on a DLC-finished tool-less guide rod, while the 7,7 kg / 17 lbs mainspring is fully CNC-machined out of solid billet.

Standing at 22 cm / 8.¾" in overall length, 14,6 cm / 5.¾" in heigth and barely 4,31 cm / 1.7" in width, the Jacob Grey Firearms NOX 9 pistol weighs in at barely 1,1 kilograms (39 oz) when empty, and feeds through double-stack 17-rounds magazines – two provided from factory with each pistol.

Other features of the NOX 9 pistol include a Picatinny rail for accessories machined right on to the dust cover; an innovative black hard-anodized 7071-T6 aluminum grip module, designed to allow the shooter's hand to lay perfectly on the backstrap allowing for a high grip for complete control; and an exclusive patented ejector design, unique to the NOX 9.

Finally, the NOX 9 features a set of machined, recessed front and rear serrations on the slide, and a micro red dot sight interface machined on top of it, compatible with Trijicon RMR footprint sights. Overall, the Jacob Grey Firearms NOX 9 aims at setting a new standard in terms of precision components, coatings, comfort, recoil management and revolutionary designs by combining aerospace heritage with deep 1911 experience.

At the moment of publication, Jacob Grey Firearms advertises the NOX 9 pistol as a limited production, highly exclusive firearm available directly through the Company's dealer network and official eCommerce site.

MSRP for the NOX 9 on the US market starts at $5,800, with a minimum estimated lead time between two and four months. For further information, visit the official Jacob Grey Firearms website.
