The Springfield Armory Kuna – a brand new pistol-caliber carbine engineered by HS Produkt of Croatia – made its debut at the 2025 edition of IWA in Nuremberg, Germany, months after winning a São Paulo State Military Police solicitation contract in Brazil, back in October 2024.

Available in a semi-automatic version for commercial and civilian sales, and as a select-fire sub-machine gun for military, law enforcement and government sales, the Kuna is built around a machined lightweight alloy receiver with a reinforced polymer grip and side-folding/extendable buttstock. All controls are ambidextrous; the handguard features M-LOK slots for Picatinny rail segments, and the full-length top Picatinny rail for optics integrates a set of sturdy folding iron sights.

The Springfield Armory Kuna is based on a roller-delayed blowback working system, with a single top roller; features a reversible, folding non-reciprocating charging handle; and feeds through proprietary polymer magazines with steel feed lips that are described as "low-cost". Caliber is 9mm Luger, but the Brazilian solicitation contract saw Springfield Armory also submit a .40 Smith & Wesson variant. The price for the semi-automatic civilian version is slated to be "under 1,000 dollars", but additional information concerning availability dates is yet to be released.
