HERA Arms H6: a bolt-action rifle, different
HERA Industries introduces the HERA Arms H6, a modern .223 Remington / 5.56x45mm bolt-action, side-feeding rifle engineered for maximum flexibility in hunting and sport shooting
Definitely unique and intriguing: those two words are enough to describe the HERA Arms H6 5.56x45mm/.223 Remington bolt-action rifle, announced back in February by the Hera Industries company in Germany, which has so far specialized in the manufacture and distribution of AR-15 variants and relevant accessories for sporting purposes.
Engineered in collaboration with the Austrian Voere firm – which has been offering a similar design, the S16 bolt-action rifle, for a couple of years now – the HERA Arms H6 was meant to appeal to the modern-day hunters and shooters, who demand their rifles to be modular, adaptable, and easily portable. And indeed, standing at 2,5 kilograms (5.51 lbs) when empty, the HERA Arms H6 can rightfully be considered a featherweight.
A conventional design, yet fluid and lightweight action, with a manual safety located right behind the charging handle and an additional safety within the trigger guard, runs smoothly within an aluminum and polymer structure, available in matte black, olive drab green, or desert tan variants. At the end of the pistol grip is a hinged HERA H7 style stock that folds to the left side for easier transportation or storage.
The buttstock features QD sling swivel slots on both sides, two removable side panels for the central storage space, and a set of removable buttstock and cheekpiece inserts allowing shooters to adjust the height and length of pull of the stock.
The black machined aluminum handguard features two QD sling swivel studs a set of M-LOK slots for Picatinny rail segments, allowing the installation of bipods or tactical accessories. The H6 rifle is compatible with any AR-15 handguard of HERA Arms manufacture, for additional versatility.
The 46 cm / 18" barrel comes with an A2-type flash hider attached to a ½x28 muzzle thread, and can thus be equipped with the shooter's choice of flash hiders, muzzle brakes, or – where legal – sound suppressors.
The HERA Arms H6 bolt-action rifle feeds through STANAG 4179 (AR-15 type) detachable magazines of any make and capacity, and comes issued with a 10-rounds magazine of HERA Arms manufacture.
The location of the magazine well is particularly interesting: located on the left side of the action, mirroring the position of the ejection window, with a top-mounted magazine release catch, it provides the H6 rifle with a captivating STEN-ish retro-futuristic look, while at the same time clearing useful room ahead of the trigger guard for better support on a stand, rest, or hunting blind.
The HERA Arms H6 bolt-action rifle stands in at 106 cm / 41.7" in overall length with its buttstock unfolded, and features a full-length top MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny black aluminum rail for flip-up iron sights or the shooter's choice of optics. For increased versatility, the H6 is available with the shooter's choice of a fixed or folding stock.
MSRP for the HERA Arms H6 bolt-action rifle has been announced at €1.429 in Germany.
