Walther announces its first .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire pistol: the WMP ("Walther Magnum Pistol") is a perfect companion for training, plinking, competition, and for the great outdoors
Walther debuts on the market of .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire handgun with the Walther WMP semi-automatic pistol: designed and engineer to reprise the well-known and appreciated ergonomics and the manual of arms of Walther's own PPQ, PPS and PDP striker-fired centerfire service and defensive handguns, the "Walther Magnum Pistol" is a perfect choice for a broad range of uses, from plinking to serious training and competition, down to small-game hunting and protection against animals in the great outdoors thanks to the extra power factor of the snappy .22 WMR cartridge.

Like Walther's own, previous rimfire pistol – the .22 Long Rifle model P22 – the new WMP isn't a striker-fired design, opting instead for a hammer-fired, 2 kg / 4.5 lbs pull trigger. The polymer frame features Walther's typical ergonomic grip and a Picatinny rail for tactical accessories.
Other features of the Walther WMP include three automatic safeties – including a trigger safety – and the new 4U magazine release system: the WMP features the classic German paddle magazine release and "American-style" magazine release button, on both sides, making it perfect for both left-handed and right-handed shooters.
The slide stop release catch is likewise ambidextrous; the only control that is located on one side of the frame only (more specifically, the left side) is the disassembly lever.
The Walther WMP features a matte black aluminum slide, with a set of aggressive front and rear serrations for easier manual cocking, and a set of three frontal lightening cuts on both sides. Also featured on the slide are a fixed front post sight with a fiber-optic insert; a serrated, dovetailed rear sight with two white dots; and a modular, machined micro red dot interface right in front of the rear sight, protected by a removable plate, and compatible with a vast number of some of the most popular MRDS models currently available on the global markets.
The Walther WMP pistol feeds through single-stack magazines, offering a capacity of ten or fifteen rounds depending from local laws and regulations.
Unlike the previous P22, the new Walther Magnum Pistol does not feature a magazine disconnect feature thar prevents the gun from firing when the magazine is removed.
The new Walther WMP is 208 mm / 8.2" long overall, and features a 11,43 cm / 4.5" barrel with a fluted chamber for enhanced compatibility with a vast majority of factory .22 WMR loads. The Winchester Magnum Pistol weighs in at 788 grams (27.8 oz) overall with an empty magazine.
