Bushmaster introduces the BA30 straight-pull rifle
Bushmaster announces the "quickest bolt-action rifle on the market rifle": the BA30 is a straight-pull design for PRS competition and precision long-range hunting, featuring full ambidextrous capabilities, two barrel lengths, and easy conversion from .308 Winchester to 6.5 Creedmoor!
Recently re-established in Nevada following its split from the parent Remington Outdoor Company due to the latter's demise in 2020, Bushmaster Firearms International makes its debut on the Precision Rifle Series competition and long-range precision hunting rifles with the new Bushmaster BA30 straight-pull rifle chambered in .308 Winchester and 6.5 Creedmoor.
Engineered and built to be easy to familiarize with – particularly by shooters who are already familiar with AR-15 and AR-10 semi-automatic rifles and carbines – and to be extremely fast to operate for quick and accurate follow-up shots, the Bushmaster BA30 straight-pull bolt-action rifle offers a plethora of extremely enticing features in terms of ergonomics, durability, reliability, and ease of use.
The Bushmaster BA30 straight-pull rifle is built around a 7075-T6 lightweight aluminum alloy, MIL-STD Type III black hard-anodized lower receiver, feeding from SR-25/AR10 magazines and featuring basically the same controls configuration found on any modern variant of the AR-10 or AR-15 platforms, including the magazine release catch, manual safety, and hold-open lever (something you don't really see every day on a bolt-action or straight-pull rifle).
The Bushmaster BA30 comes from factory with an AR-15 compatible pistol grip, which can be removed and replaced at the shooter's will with any AR-15 compatible aftermarket option; a side-folding hinge – allowing for easier mobility and compact size for more convenient storage – fits a factory lightweight alloy stock with fully adjustable buttpad and cheek riser. A 1913 interface allows users to replace the factory stock with any compatible aftermarket buttstock at their will.
The black, hard-anodized lightweight alloy upper receiver features an XM-10 bolt with a spring-assisted loading system, making the BA30 one of the fastest straight-pull rifles currently available on the market. The bolt handle can be removed from its socket on the right side and installed specularly on the left side to adapt the BA30 to right-handed and left-handed shooters alike.
The 355 mm / 14" XM10 free-float lightweight aluminum alloy handguard features a set of M-LOK slots, providing plenty of space for bipods or tactical accessories. A full-length top MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail will allow shooters to install any type of optical or opto-electronic sight.
The Bushmaster BA30 straight-pull rifle comes from factory with 457,2 mm / 18" or 609,6 mm / 24" DPMS LR308 barrel, equipped with a Bushmaster Snake Charmer muzzle brake installed on a threaded muzzle. Both .308 Winchester (7.62x51mm) and 6.5 Creedmoor are currently listed as available for the BA30.
Twist rates announced include 1:10" for .308 and 1:8" for 6.5 Creedmoor. The Bushmaster BA30 straight-pull rifle can be easily converted from any one of the two native calibers to the other simply by swapping barrel; similarly, users may easily pass from an 18" to a 24" barrel depending to their needs and preferences.
Other features of the Bushmaster BA30 straight-pull bolt-action rifle include a factory Bushmaster DMS2 two-stage trigger; the BA30 is compatible with any AR style trigger, thus opening the door for virtually unlimited possibilities in terms of customization and accurization.
The starting price for the Bushmaster BA30 bolt-action rifle has been announced at $1,799.99. No information concerning availability and pricing on the global export markets has been released so far, but Bushmaster did mention "hunters and precision shooters, both domestic and international" in their official announcement of the BA30, meaning that the rifle will eventually be available for export.
