Marlin 336C Curly Maple lever-action rifle
SHOT Show 2019 – The legendary Marlin 336 lever action rifle is now available in an elegant Curly Maple furniture variant in .30-30 Winchester caliber
The Marlin 336C Curly Maple lever-action rifle is one of ten different variants of the legendary Model 336 rifle platform currently offered by Marlin Firearms – a Remington Outdoor Company brand. For decades, the Marlin 336 has been a market reference point for serious lever-action hunting rifles, and the new Curly Maple model does not mark an exception.
As a matter of fact, the only difference between the Marlin 336C Curly Maple version and other variants of the design is indeed the curly maple stock and forend, with checkered slip-proof contact surfaces; an aesthetically appeasing, but nonetheless functional option for those who want a factory-new Model 336 offering something different from the current walnut-finished checkered hardwood, and laminated hardwood variants already in Marlin’s catalog
The Marlin 336 Curly Maple shares most features with the rest of the Model 336 rifle line. The gun uses the same venerand 336 action – itself an evolution of the classic Marlin Model 1893/36 – first introduced in 1948. Marlin today describes the Model 336 as the “strongest lever-gun ever conceived”.
The Marlin 336C Curly Maple is currently available only in .30-30 Winchester, with a magazine tube offering an overall capacity of 5 rounds and a 50,8 cm / 20” barrel bringing the overall length to just a little over one meter (40.½”). The barrel of the Marlin 336C Curly Maple sports a 1:20” Microgroove rifling – a Marlin’s typical pattern of accelerated, shallow, narrow rifling grooves that are easier and cheaper to obtain without causing a degradation in performance.
The Marlin 336C Curly Maple features a manual crossbolt safety, a fixed front sight and an adjustable semi-Buckhorn rear sight. Both the stock and the barrel band feature a sling swivel ring; the stock comes factory-issued with a rubberized recoil-absorbing buttpad.
