New Fox Knives Radius and Core models
FOX Knives introduces the brand new and elegant Fox Radius folder – overall Knife of the Year at the 2019 Blade Show – and the Fox Core line of fixed blade knives
FOX Radius folding blade knife
FOX Knives recently announced its mid-year introductions with the brand new Radius folding blade and Core fixed blade knives, both showcased at the 2019 edition of the Blade Show, held on June 7th thru 9th in Atlanta.
On that occasion, the Radius won the coveted 2019 Best Overall Knife of the Year and Best Imported Knife of the Year awards, bestowed by a panel of external judges and by the eminent Blade magazine.
The winner of the 2019 Best Overall Knife of the Year and Best Imported Knife of the Year awards, the FOX Radius is so new that it is still not even mentioned on the Company website; FOX Knives had already won the Knife of the Year award at the 2018 Blade Show with the SURU Knife.
Designed by Denis Simonucci – a young rising star in Italian knife design – the FOX Radius sports a modified Wharncliffe blade available in black, stainless and Damasteel and a very comfortable, arcing handle design.
Grips are available in several configurations that include carbon fiber or titanium handles, titanium or Damasteel frames and spacers, titanium screws and belt clips.
What made the FOX Radius stand out among all others at the 2019 Blade Show is definitely the innovative, patent pending locking system dubbed the "Fingers Safe Opening System".
The patent-pending "Fingers Safe Opening System" is a rotative design, where a small button is located on the top portion of the left handle, at easy thumb reach if the knife is held in the right hand.
By slightly depressing the button and then pushing it through its guide, the blade will open and then lock in position when fully extended; reverse operation closes the blade.
The system keeps the user's fingers out of the way through the entire process, making the FOX Radius one of the safest folding knives in the world.
FOX Core fixed blade knives
The FOX Core line of utility and bushcraft knives, designed by Danish knife designer Jesper "Vox" Voxnaes, grows of three fixed-blade entries: the FX-605 Core, the FX-606 Core Scandi and the FX-607 Score Skinner. All models feature a fixed, stone-washed HRC 57-58 Becut stainless steel blade, and a polypropylene and thermo-rubber handle sporting a gripping scaled design and a strap loop.
The different blade design is what tells the models apart. Both the Core Scandi and Core Skinner knives feature a 10 cm / 3.93" long, 4mm / 0.16" thick blade, while the baseline Core comes with a 11 cm / 4.33" blade.
The blade on the FX-605 Core knife sports a classic single-edged, drop-point design; the FX-606 features a Scandi grind style blade, while the FX-607 features a wider edge with a top hook.
Both the FX-606 Core Scandi and the FX-607 Core Skinner knives are 22,5 cm / 8.85" long overall and weigh 145 grams (5.11 oz); the FX-605 Core is 23,5 cm / 9.25" long overall and weighs 150 grams (5.29 oz).
The FOX FX-605 Core and FX-606 Core Scandi knives are available with a black or an olive drab green grip; the FX-607 Core Skinner comes with a black or a bright orange grip. A nylon cordura belt sheath compatible with all models of the Core line is available.
