The TR-68 and HDR-68 were launched by the UMAREX company of Germany back in 2022, as part of their T4E "Training For Engagement" product line.
Essentially identical, with a few different features to set them apart – including, but not limited to, the maximum level of muzzle energy in some markets, that will range from 7.5 to 16 Joules depending on the model and on local laws and regulations concerning the maximum power level of unrestricted airguns and Paintball markets, particularly in some European Countries – the UMAREX TR-68 and HDR-68 revolvers both feed through detachable five-shots moon clips and use commercial 16g CO² canisters for propulsion.
Additionally, both models use standard, commonly available .68-caliber spheric ammunition, and are compatible with a plethora of different loads such as marking rounds, inert rubber or steel rounds, and OC irritant rounds. This versatility quickly propelled the HDR-68 and TR-68 among the top sellers in their category, ideal as they are for backyard shooting and plinking, Paintball skirmishing and competition, professional CQB Force-On-Force training, and even non-lethal self-defense and property protection against intruders or aggressive animals.
New for 2026, UMAREX announces the CCK TR-68 Carbine Conversion Kit, compatible with all T4E HDR-68 and TR-68 revolvers – including the second generation models introduced in 2025 – to convert them into practical and stable short-barreled, folding stock carbines compatible with a wide array of accessories.
The CCK TR-68 conversion kit is a slightly modified, redesigned version of the CCK TR-50 carbine conversion kit launched by UMAREX in 2025 for the TR-50 and HDR-50 revolvers. As the HDR-50 and TR-50 are differend in size and use .50-caliber ammunition, the CCK TR-50 kit would not be compatible with the .68-caliber models; a carbine conversion kit for the TR-68 and HDR-68 models was in high demand, and the CCK TR-68 was developed with a high degree of attention towards the feedback from CCK TR-50 users.
The UMAREX CCK TR-68 carbine conversion kit is manufactured out of black reinforced polymer and features a skeletonized stock that folds to the right, bringing overall length to just 545 mm / 21.45" when folded. The overall package weighs in at 720 grams (1.58 lbs).
The carbine conversion kit is issued with an interface that mounts to the under-barrel Picatinny rail of any TR-68 or HDR-68 revolver before the gun is slid inside the polymer chassis. This allows the CCK TR-68 to offer a solid, no-wobble hold right from the very get go. The package doesn't feel flimsy like so many others, and the central and bottom opening offers full access to the five-shot detachable moon clip the TR-68 and HDR-68 revolvers feed through.
As the grip area isn't covered or modified by the CCK TR-68 carbine conversion kit, the integrated Quick-Piercing System of the TR-68 and HDR-68 revolvers remains fully functional. This means that the revolver can be stored with a CO² canister in its grip indefinitely until it's ready to be fired, by which point the user will slap the bottom of the grip with the palm of his/her support hand to pierce the canister and pressurize the system.
The UMAREX CCK TR-68 carbine conversion kit also features a full-length Picatinny top rail for optics or folding sights, as well as a set of bipod attachment points underneath the handguard, and QD sling swivel cups and M-LOK slots for accessories on both sides. The CCK TR-68 comes with a clip-on ammunition holder that allows users to have two fully loaded spare moon clips always handy for quick reloads.
Additionally, the CCK TR-68 carbine conversion kit is compatible with several muzzle accessories offered by UMAREX.
These include the T4E MSD-68 Modular Sound Device, an aluminum modular training system that can be configured by the user to dub either as a sound moderator or as a sound amplified, making shooters better used to the real-life report of firearms; and the T4E X-Tracer 68, an interesting screw-on training device also manufactured out of solid black anodized aluminum with the looks of a cylindrical serrated muzzle brake and a set of three orange LEDs that activate when the gun is fired to realistically reproduce a muzzle blast.
When used with UMAREX's own, purpose-manufactured TRB-68 fluorescent .68-caliber spheric rounds, the T4E X-Tracer 68 device illuminates them via a series of embedded UV LEDs, thus obtaining a spectacular tracer effect that will be particularly useful in night-time training sessions, official competitions, or simple recreational skirmishes.
