It's called the "G-Shot", and represents Sightmark's latest solution to meet the needs of a potentially extremely broad plethora of users: those shooters and professionals who want to install a micro red dot sight on their older-generation, non-optics-ready Glock pistols but do not have the technical capabilities, the time, the will, or the access to professional support to mill an optics cut on their existing slide or to buy a new one.
Designed to be sturdy enough to withstand years of intensive use in sport shooting, duty, defensive and tactical applications, while at the same time remaining extremely simple to operate and financially accessible to as many users as possible, the Sightmark G-Shot micro red dot sight is built around a matte black cast aluminum alloy body with an open-emitter design and is installed by just sliding and clipping it on to the rear of your pistol's slide.
A rectangular slot to the end of the sight body leaves plenty of room for the factory rear sight, which will thus remain usable; a set of deep slant serrations have been engraved to the side wings of the body, turning it essentially into a slide racker.
The Sightmark G-Shot is a very tight fit, and some slight modification or the use of a rubber mallet may be required to clip it into position; once it is, two assembly screws can be tightened to 1,12 N•m (10 in-lbs.) to keep it firmly in place, ensuring it will remain stable and hold zero even under heavy recoil.
The 20x16 mm objective lens features an anti-reflective red coating; the only other controls are two in-set adjustment screws, continuous and non-clicking; a small flat-head can be used to adjust the red dot for windage and elevation on a 90 MOA range.
The Sightmark G-Shot comes without any power or adjustment button: the 3 MOA red dot sight is automatically turned on by the embedded light sensor and whenever the sight detects movement, and shuts off automatically after a certain amount of time to save energy.
The same embedded light sensor automatically adjust the brightness to match the current level of environmental illumination. The entire system is powered by a single CR1632 battery – contained in a tray located under the objective lens and secured by a small screw – that will offer up to up to 16,000 hours of life.
Standing at 6,4 centimeters (2.2") in overall length and tipping the scales at just 48 grams (1.7 oz) without a battery, the Sightmark G-Shot micro red dot sight is compatible with twelve 9mm and .40-caliber Gen.3, Gen.4 and Gen.5 Glock pistols: G17, G19, G22 and G23 (Gen.5 models excluded), G24, G26, G27, G34, G35, G41, G45, and G47.
Sightmark's G-shot is also IP67 certified to withstand impacts and remain waterproof for up to one hour if submerged to the depth of 1 meter (3 ft), and can be used at any temperature between -25°C and +60°C (-13 / +140 °F), with an unlimited eye relief and a 50 yards (45,7 meters) factory parallax setting.
Its "always-on", handless operation that does not necessitate user's intervention outside of zeroing and replacing the battery when required makes the Sightmark G-Shot micro red dot sight perfect for those shooters who are less than inclined to fumble with accessories and gadgets, regardless of how useful they might be.
