Hudson H9 pistol
The all new striker-fired Hudson H9 pistol has been finally "unveiled"... all main web-based gun publications have hurried up to report about it... but what is it for real?
What is the fuzz all about the Hudson H9 semi-automatic pistol?
The official Hudson Manufacturing H9 website presents it as a revolutionary pistol, well rooted in the best past American gunmaking tradition (with a clear reference to the immortal 1911 concept), yet "inspired by the future", because of 7 patents pending that should support the idea that we are in front of a really new project, rather than just one more kid in the block.
One thing is sure: nowadays, to come out in the market with a new product, without really having nothing in the hands, it's quite risky, and is also a nonsense also. We thus were really looking forward to find out more about this striker fired pistol that at the moment looks like a well designed and stylish mixup of a Colt 1911, a Strike One (does it still exists?), an FK Brno, the visually-modified Tokarev pistol as used in the movie Kingsman: the Secret Service and the iconic handgun from the classic videogame System Shock 2.
What we found out is... that indeed it is!
The Hudson Manufacturing H9 is a semi-automatic, striker-fired version of the M1911-A1 pistol layout that is entirely manufactured out of metal, built around a double-stack magazine version of the 1911 pistol frame; and yet it is both lighter and thinner than other metal double-stack 9mm caliber handguns such as, to say, the Beretta 92 pistol.
The exciting mix of short trigger travel and light trigger weight, low recoil and low muzzle climb is achieved through the use of a patented sear design and by positioning the return spring (a standard spring, not a hydraulic system as speculated by many before the SHOT Show) in a lower position, right there in front of the trigger guard.
The Hudson H9 is definitely the best and most interesting new product showcased at the 2017 SHOT Show. We will be looking forward to offer our followers an in-depth review, and to know more about projected availability and pricing for the international markets.
