Smith & Wesson Model 350: a new, legendary hunting revolver!
Smith & Wesson introduces the Model 350 double-action, large-frame hunting revolver: chambered for the powerful straight-walled .350 Legend cartridge, this new, solid X-Frame revolver is a must-have for handgun hunters and silhouette shooters!
The Smith & Wesson Model 350 double-action revolver, announced by the Springfield (Massachussets)-based company on August 16th, is the third platform based on the Company's own, majestically sturdy extra-large X-Frame, the others being the Model 500 and Model 460 revolvers, which relaunched Smith & Wesson's fame as a manufacturer of "big irons" in the early 21st Century.
Like its predecessors, chambered in .500 S&W Magnum and .460 S&W Magnum respectively, Smith & Wesson's Model 350 revolver owes its name to its caliber, being made to fire the powerful .350 Legend – a straight-walled, rebated rim hunting cartridge first introduced by Winchester Ammunition in 2019 as the world's fastest straight-wall cartridge, effective for deer hunting up to 230 meters (approx. 250 yards).
The .350 Legend caliber was conceived to be compliant with the hunting laws in effect in some US States which ban the use of bottleneck cartridges, and to remain compatible with the popular AR-15 semi-automatic rifle platform: .350 Legend rounds will easily fit in STANAG 4179 magazines, a factor that undoubtedly played a no small part in the wild success that the .350 Legend is enjoying on the US market.
The Smith & Wesson Model 350 double-action revolver was mainly conceived for hunting purposes (particularly for the US market and for those jurisdiction where handgun hunting is legal), but its design, peculiar features, and performance levels will no doubt make it a must-have for collectors, gun enthusiasts at large, and particularly for sport shooters, specifically for metallic silhouette shooting competitions and other field sports.
In order to make it sturdy and robust enough to handle the powerful .350 Legend caliber for a lifetime, the new Smith & Wesson Model 350 revolver is entirely manufactured out of satin-finished stainless steel, the only exception being the black overmolded ergonomic grip.
The trigger remains the same – smooth, reliable, accurate – that shooters worldwide are now accustomed to find on Smith & Wesson double-action revolvers. The new Model 350 features an adjustable rear sight with white inlays and a fixed front sight with a bright red high-visibility ramp; a Picatinny or Weaver rail segment can be screwed on to the top of the frame, providing mounting space for optical sights.
Standing in at 34,7 centimeters / 13.5" in overall length and weighing in at 2,02 kilograms / 71.5 oz. when empty, the new Smith & Wesson Model 350 double-action revolver features a 19,1 cm / 7.5" with a 1:16" twist rate; the muzzle is compensated to reduce the massive blast and reduce the hefty recoil and muzzle climb that will come from such a powerful cartridge.
The 7-shots cylinder is fluted in the typical style of Smith & Wesson revolvers; the extra round will surely be a blessing for hunters and competition shooters. Each sample comes issued from factory with moon clips for easier and faster reloading.
The Smith & Wesson Model 350 revolver, the first in the world to efficiently handle one of the most interesting and powerful new hunting calibers to have been introduced in the past few years, is available on the US commercial market at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $1,599.00. International customers should refer to their national authorized Smith & Wesson distributor for information concerning local availability and pricing.
