Schmeisser 1911 pistol in 9mm caliber
SHOT Show 2016 – The Colt 1911 pistol platform, the most quintessential American handgun design, revives in a German-made variant from Schmeisser GmbH
The German gun industry isn't new to the manufacture of high-level 1911-type semi-automatic pistols – the last of whose was showcased this year at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas by the Schmeisser GmbH company.
Manufactured in Germany with the best steel available to Schmeisser GmbH – and already used for the production of some components of its AR-15 line of rifles and carbines – the Schmeisser 1911 is a high-quality entry-level 1911-type single-action semi-automatic pistol conceived for civilian shooters.
The Schmeisser 1911 semi-automatic pistol sports all the features that make a modern 1911 platform fit for today's needs: a machined blued stainless steel slide with front and rear serrations, and dovetailed adjustable sights; G10 grips and checkered surfaces on the front and rear; extended beavertail and ambidextrous frame-mounted safety; skeletonized hammer and trigger; a railed frame; and all this comes standard.
Initially, the Schmeisser 1911 pistol will only be chambered for the 9x19mm (9mm Luger) caliber, feeding through 8-rounds single-stack detachable metal magazines. Other variants will come in the future.
