Ruger American Pistol
SHOT Show 2016 – Sturm, Ruger & Co. introduces at 2016 SHOT Show the American Pistol, its new semi-automatic handgun
At the 2016 edition of the Las Vegas SHOT Show, Ruger Firearms has launched the American Pistol, an high-end semiautomatic pistol model, designed for defensive and service uses, as well as for tactical applications.
The Ruger American Pistol is a striker-fired design, sporting a light double-action trigger as well as an ambidextrous magazine release and slide stop lever. The Ruger American Pistol is a polymer-frame pistol with a modular grip and a machined blued steel slide. Its low center of gravity, the low-mass slide, the low bore axis and the peculiar design of the barrel cam all contribute to reduce recoil and muzzle climb to a minimum.
The 9mm caliber variant of the Ruger American Pistol sports a 4.2” barrel and feeds through double-stack 17+1-rounds magazines. The .45 ACP version features instead a 4.5” barrel and 10+1-rounds magazines.
