New for 2026 at SHOT Show, Chiappa Firearms of Italy introduces the "Black Thunder" line of revolvers: a deeply modernized take on the classic Colt 1873 Single Action Army design, reconfigured into a "big bore" wheelgun for hunting or silhouette shooting competitions.

Built on a deep blued steel frame and 6-shot cylinder, chambered for .44 Magnum and featuring the SAA's quintessential single-action working system, loading gate, and manual ejection rod, the Chiappa Firearms Black Thunder revolver are available in a 5.5" barrel "short" version and a 8-inch barrel "long" version.

Both models feature a black rubberized Hogue grip compatible with the Ruger Super Blackhawk, and with a full-length anodized black barrel shroud that hosts a fixed fiber optic front sight and a Picatinny rail for micro red dot sights. The rear sight is adjustable for elevation and windage.

MSRP on the US market is set at $1,155.00 for the 5.5" "short" version and at $1,135.00 for the 8" "long" version.
