Smith & Wesson new SD9 2.0 pistol
Smith & Wesson SD9 2.0 pistol: a viable option for home defense and everyday carry
Officially launched on the US market on December 19, 2023, the Smith & Wesson SD9 2.0 9mm Luger semi-automatic pistol is an upgraded version of the SD series of pistols, first introduced in 2010 as the replacement of the Smith & Wesson Sigma line, itself launched in 1994 as Smith & Wesson's first striker-fired, polymer frame series of handguns.
Like the previous SD series, Smith & Wesson's SD9 2.0 pistol is a compact design, feeding through 10-rounds or 16-rounds double-stack magazines and conceived to provide great value for personal defense, home protection, and shooting training to those customers who must operate within the confines of a tight budget.
The enhanced Self Defense Trigger of the SD9 2.0 pistol embraces a flat-face design that provides better tactile feedback during the pull, break, and reset allowing for more controlled and accurate shots. Weighing in at 22.7 oz. / 643 grams when empty, this pistol strikes the perfect balance between portability and stability.
Furthermore, its overall length of 7.2” (182 mm) allows for ease of handling without compromising performance. Additional features of the SD9 2.0 include a satin-finished slide with aggressive front serrations that provide the user more surface area for easier manipulation, texture on the front, sides, and back of the grip for improved control, a 4-inch (101 mm) stainless steel barrel, picatinny-style rail, and white-dot front and rear sights to aid for quicker target acquisition and sight picture clarity.
The new Smith & Wesson SD9 2.0 pistol is sold on the US market at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $349.00. For information concerning availability and price outside of the United States, consult the authorized Smith & Wesson distributor for your Country.
