Kel-Tec introduces the P15 high-capacity, ultra-thin concealed carry pistol
SHOT Show 2022 - the Kel-Tec P15 semi-automatic pistol offers a a slim 22mm profile for deep, print-free concealed carry, without sacrificing magazine capacity and barrel length
The Kel-Tec P15 9mm semi-automatic pistol, freshly introduced at SHOT Show 2022, is Kel-Tec's first full-size 9mm pistol for concealed carry and personal, home and property defense, featuring a striker-fired, 2,2 kg / 5 lbs. trigger with a long reset for safe and reliable operation.
Unlike most modern personal protection handguns, which are designed to be as short as possible, the Kel-Tec P15 was conceived to remain lightweight and super-concealable without sacrificing capacity and barrel length – which is tantamount to accuracy and performance.
The Kel-Tec P15 is 168 mm / 6.6" long overall, features a 101,6 mm / 4" barrel, and feeds through double-stack metal magazines with a polymer floorplate offering a full capacity of fifteen 9mm rounds, with 12 rounds flush-fit magazines being also available for deeper concealment. And despite that, the P15 is extremely thin, standing at merely 22 mm / 0.875" – ideal for printless 24/7 carry.
The Kel-Tec P15 is built around a stamped black polymer frame whose overall design is firmly in line Kel-Tec's signature aesthetics. A "Gator Grip" texture on the grip and a set of solid slip-proof grooves on the front and back strap and on the trigger guard ensure a firm hold in a variety of shooting positions and techniques.
The frame of the Kel-Tec P15 features a MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail for accessories, a reversible magazine release button and a grip safety. The blued slide is streamlined for quick, easy and snag-proof drawing and holstering, and features front and rear cocking serrations for easier handling and a set of factory HIVIZ sights, more specifically a green fiber optic front post and an adjustable rear sight.
The Kel-Tec P15 should be available on the US commercial market by the 2nd quarter of 2022, at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $425.
At the same time, Kel-Tec showcased a second version of the P15 built around a non-railed, machined aluminum alloy frame, featuring a set of wooden grip panels and an ambidextrous magazine release catch. Details concerning the availability of this version are still unclear, but its manufacturer's suggested retail price should be around $795.
