Sierra introduces the MatchKing-X reloading hunting bullets
New for 2025, Sierra Bullets introduces the MatchKing-X (MKX) – the next evolution of Sierra Bullets' own MatchKing series, designed with hunters in mind. The MatchKing-X offers the incredible long-range accuracy and shot-to-shot consistency that shooters have come to expect from the MatchKing series, now enhanced with proven terminal performance for reliable results in the field.
Consistently tested on thin-skinned game out to 500 yards, the MatchKing-X is engineered for rapid expansion and terminal performance. Unlike regular MatchKing bullets, the MKX features key design enhancements that allow the jacket to open and expand rapidly.
A draw-and-trim method creates a significantly thinner jacket mouth, with light skives on the nose of the bullet for controlled expansion. Additionally, the MKX uses a softer lead core than the traditional MatchKing bullet, increasing its effectiveness on game.

While enhanced for terminal performance, Sierra's MatchKing-X bullets are held to the same accuracy standards as their MatchKing counterparts. With identical ogives as the MatchKing, the MatchKing-X allows shooters to maintain existing trajectory data and seating depth without adjustments.
The Sierra MKX bullets also maintain the original MatchKing’s weight and jacket concentricity specifications. With the MKX, shooters and hunters alike can experience Sierra Bullets’ renowned accuracy and performance – now with optimized performance for use in the field.
The Sierra Bullets MatchKing-X line is currently available in three calibers and four weights: 6.5mm/.284 142 gr.; .270/.277 135 gr.; and .30/.308 175 gr. or 200 gr. All options are available in 100- or 500-pcs boxes.
